A MOTO (mail order / telephone order) account is when a business accepts payments through mail order or telephone order. This means that the credit card that is being charged is not physically swiped through a credit card machine during the time of purchase. The numbers are manually entered into the credit card machine and the entire transaction is manually done. This is convenient for the merchant because the transaction can be done at the merchant’s own pace. With a MOTO account, the merchant does not need to have face to face interaction with the customer, usually making this process a little less stressful since there will not be customers waiting in a line. The process of receiving funds into the business bank account is not different from any other kind of merchant account. A MOTO account is just as safe and efficient allowing the merchant to work at his or her own pace.
